  BCSN RELEASES FIRST REGULAR SEASON POLL, POW HONORS The Black College Sports Network has released its first regular season poll for HBCU Men’s Basketball teams in NCAA Division I and NAIA.   With the exception of Lincoln (MO) and Lincoln (PA), NCAA Division II teams have yet to take the court for the 2020-21 season.   The poll is based upon a computer formula that factors in items such as wins, losses, strength-of-schedule, and opponent’s rating.   Games played through Sunday, December 7 are utilized to calculate the rankings.   NCAA Division I is led by Texas Southern, who despite their three losses, edged out North Carolina Central, Prairie View, and North Carolina A&T based upon their strength-of-scheduled played.   Texas Southern defeated #138 Wyoming while losing to three top 100 teams, Washington St (88), Oklahoma St. (26) and St. Mary’s (66).   North Carolina Central defeated the SWAC’s Southern university (331) while losing to Iowa (1...

Drew | BCSN Sportswrap Co-host CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT NEEDED FOR HBCUS The COVID-19 pandemic thus far has and will continue to force a sense of reality on college sports fans.  The economic and logistics of how we evaluate the business model of HBCU sports will change as we face our new normal.  Questions about whether we will have college sports (football specifically) and in what shape and form are among us.  The Power 5 schools and Group of 5 schools are creating their own plans around football.  Throw in the Mid-Majors in basketball, and the landscape will begin to shift, possibly faster than what experts have been forecasting for the future.  Maybe it’s time for our HBCUs to ask some important questions about their future and look at some conference realignments by size, geography, and logic.  The thoughts and ideas below are purely mine and not based on ...
