  FMU Athletic Director Announces Cancellation of Women’s Soccer, Volleyball By  A.D. Drew , BCSN October 13, 2020 –Earlier today, Florida Memorial University Athletic Director, Ernest T. Jones, issued a statement that the University has cancelled their women’s soccer and volleyball programs for the remainder of the 2020 season. This immediate cancellation came  as a result of feedback from a university survey and conversation with members of both teams and University.     The press release stated that the well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, and athletics staff is the priority. Currently enrolled student-athletes will retain their scholarships through the completion of the academic year if they choose to remain at FMU.     “Based on results from a survey administered to student-athletes and coaches, we feel it is in the best interest of the University to cancel the remainder of the women’s volleyball and soccer season,” Director of Athletics Ernest T.   FMU Men’s Soccer Coach Resigns Screenshot of text message sent to soccer players By  A.D. Drew , BCSN   October 12, 2020 -  Life at Florida Memorial University (FMU) has been interesting, to say the least, over the past two weeks.  On Friday, October 9, for FMU Head Men’s Soccer Coach, Conner Campbell, decided he could not take it anymore.  That day, he turned in his letter of resignation the athletic department and administration at Florida Memorial.  In a text message sent to his student-athletes, Campbell stated that the staff has been mistreated (especially in the last week) and behind the scene issues that he could no longer deal with.  He also expressed that he was sorry to (resign) mid-season.   The Black College Sports Network reached out to the Florida Memorial University athletic department and they declined to provide a statement regarding Coach Campbell.   Campbell came to the NAIA Florida Memorial after serving as men’s head coach at Cincinnati Christian University (CCU)

FLORIDA MEMORIAL STUDENTS EXPRESS CONCERNS Students Respond to Athletic Director Ernest Jones Interview –  By  A.D.Drew , BCSN October 12, 2020  - Student-athletes from Florida Memorial University have expressed further concerns and disagreements with comments made by athletic director Ernest T. Jones during an interview with the Black College Sports Network (BCSN) days after initial reports surfaced that the university was not promoting a safe atmosphere following positive COVID-19 tests.  When students returned to school in Miami Gardens, FL in August, some reluctantly, they trusted that their university would ensure their health and safety concerning the COVID-19 virus that has swept the nation.
