  BCSN RELEASES FIRST REGULAR SEASON POLL, POW HONORS The Black College Sports Network has released its first regular season poll for HBCU Women’s Basketball teams in NCAA Division I and NAIA.   With the exception of Lincoln (MO) and Lincoln (PA), NCAA Division II teams have yet to take the court for the 2020-21 season.   Our NAIA rankings include teams that are classified as CCCAA and USCAA.   The poll is based upon a computer formula that factors in items such as wins, losses, strength-of-schedule, and opponent’s rating.   Games played through Sunday, December 7 are utilized to calculate the rankings.   NCAA Division I is led by North Carolina Central, who defeated Campbell (ranked 278) while losing to North Carolina State (5).   Jackson State has played the toughest schedule of the HBCU women’s teams thus far and comes in at #2 despite losses to two top 100 programs, Mississippi State (17) and Stephen F.   BCSN RELEASES FIRST REGULAR SEASON POLL, POW HONORS The Black College Sports Network has released its first regular season poll for HBCU Men’s Basketball teams in NCAA Division I and NAIA.   With the exception of Lincoln (MO) and Lincoln (PA), NCAA Division II teams have yet to take the court for the 2020-21 season.   The poll is based upon a computer formula that factors in items such as wins, losses, strength-of-schedule, and opponent’s rating.   Games played through Sunday, December 7 are utilized to calculate the rankings.   NCAA Division I is led by Texas Southern, who despite their three losses, edged out North Carolina Central, Prairie View, and North Carolina A&T based upon their strength-of-scheduled played.   Texas Southern defeated #138 Wyoming while losing to three top 100 teams, Washington St (88), Oklahoma St. (26) and St. Mary’s (66).   North Carolina Central defeated the SWAC’s Southern university (331) while losing to Iowa (10) and Coastal Carolina (153).   P

  BCSN PRESEASON HBCU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAMS By A.D. Drew & Bryan Fulford | BSCN Every college basketball team has faced challenges and tough decisions leading up to their annual start of the basketball season. It seems that women’s basketball teams have been affected at a slightly higher rate than their male counterparts.  There have been programs that have had their season’s cancelled as part of an entire athletic department shut down (Bethune-Cookman, Maryland Eastern Shore). There have been teams that have opted out of playing (Florida A&M). There have been teams that have scrapped their entire non-conference schedule during the month of December (Alabama State, as well as most SIAC and CIAA teams). And, there have been teams that have tried to start their season with other teams, but have dealt with several cancellations that have delayed their start (Prairie View A&M, Coppin State).
